JEAN AUGIS. Modernist brooch in silver (800 thousandths) with 3 scroll and spiral motifs set on a powerfully hammered background with aged finish. Signed at the point Jean Augis. Work circa 1930/40. Crab hallmark. Dim: 38 x 32.5 mm. PB: 10.4 g JEAN AUGIS. Born in 1910, he attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Lyon and Paris. He later joined the Lyon-based family firm Joaillier - Orfèvre A.AUGIS at 32, rue de la république. Famous for its medals, including the "médaille d'amour", he used new materials such as bronze and enamel.
