Frontispiece-168pp. Contemporary green full chagrin, large gilt and cold-engraved plate on upper cover: cold-engraved filleting, gilt roulettes and filleting, gilt interlacing framing a gilt iron depicting the statue of Notre-Dame-du-Port. Second plate framed with two cold filets, fleurs-de-lis at the corners, gilded arms of the city of Clermont-Ferrand in the center. Spine ribbed, title and gilded fillets. Dotted gilt roulette around the edges. Gilded lace framing the inside covers. Gilt edges. A fine copy. First edition of the work, in a very fine binding for which the central iron on the upper cover was specially engraved. From the library of the Comte de Chambord (Henri V), it bears on the verso of the first endpaper a vignette from the Maggs Bookshop in London, which acquired it. The frontispiece is woodcut in black and gold.
