MALGAIGNE (Joseph-François). Lectures on Orthopedics Deliver - Lot 47
MALGAIGNE (Joseph-François). Lectures on Orthopedics Delivered at the Paris Faculty of Medicine. Compiled and published by Drs. Félix Guyon and F. Panas. Paris, Delahaye, 1862, in-8. VII-434 pp.—5 plates with accompanying explanatory sheets. Dark green half-shagreen, ribbed spine, gilt fleurons. (Contemporary binding). - A fine copy. First edition. 5 lithographic plates in black by Léveillé. Professor Malgaigne was responsible for significant advances in the field of orthopedic surgery, as evidenced by the number of medical terms that bear his name. In particular, he was a pioneer in postoperative care, which he extended well beyond simple wound healing so as not to overlook any potential long-term effects. (Garrison, *History of Medicine*, pp. 491–492 – Waller 6181).
