Paris, Librairie des Bibliophiles, 1879, 2 in-8 volumes, 2ff.-XLIVpp.-341pp.-1f. - 2ff.-397pp.-1f. Contemporary green half-chagrin bindings, spines with 4 jumped false ribs, gilt friezes and panels, red caps, untrimmed. — One of 200 copies on laid paper. Well bound. Spines slightly faded. (Collection of French Storytellers). Volume I: Les matinées—Volume II: Les après-dînées. Carefully printed on laid paper. Index at the beginning of Volume I. (Vicaire II, col. 961). - DUCIS (Jean-François). Letters of Jean-François Ducis. New edition containing a large number of previously unpublished letters, preceded by a bibliographical note and an essay on Ducis by Mr. Paul Albert. Paris, Jousset, 1879, in-8, 3ff.-LXXXII pp.-390 pp. Anthracite half-shagreen, ribbed spine. (Contemporary binding). - A fine copy. - [DITTMER (Adolphe)] - [Auguste CAVE]. *Les Soirées de Neuilly*, Dramatic and Historical Sketches, published by Mr. de Fongeray... Fourth edition. Paris, Moutardier, 1828, 2 volumes, 8vo, 2 leaves–364 pp. - 2ff.-427pp.- frontispiece & facsimile. Olive half-chagrin, ribbed spine, untrimmed. (Bound circa 1880). - Simple but high-quality bindings. A fine copy. *Les Soirées de Neuilly*, a collection of dramatic proverbs, owed its success entirely to the political allusions it contained. Behind the pseudonym Fongeray lie A. Dittmer (London, 1795–1846) and his colleague A. Cavé (Caen, 1794–1852), both of whom were editors at *Le Globe*, the mouthpiece of the liberal opposition. The “portrait of Mr. Fongeray” is said to be, according to what its author H. Monnier reportedly told Asselineau, a “slightly exaggerated” depiction of Stendhal. Printed on laid paper. - [ANONYMOUS]. The Marquise de Crécy. Paris, Bailly, 1840, in-8, 2ff. unnumbered—286 pp. Half havana shagreen, corners, initials “L.-C.” on the front cover, ribbed spine decorated with gold-filleted panels, gold cap, untrimmed. (Binding by Ottmaier). - Spine discolored to a fawn hue. An epistolary novel, likely autobiographical, whose author we have been unable to identify. The author depicts the behavior of single women in the society of the time.
