And Augmented with Historical and Critical Remarks by Casaubon, Du Plessis Mornay, G. Laurent, Ch. de l'Ecluse, Guy Patin, P. Bayle, J. Le Duchat, and others. The Hague, Scheurleer, 1740, 11 volumes in-4, portrait, and 2 plates. Contemporary half-blond calf binding, ribbed spine, title labels, panels decorated with a grotesque motif alternating with a Rococo ironwork design, trimmed edges. His impartiality is renowned. One might even say that, in his efforts to maintain a balance between the two sides, de Thou sometimes tipped the scales in favor of the Huguenots, or at the very least the Politiques...” (S.H.F.). - (Quérard IX, p. 457 – S.H.F., 775).
